Introduction
Proto-Sereal (/,pɹoʊ.ɾoʊ'siɹi.l/ pro-do SEER-ee-l encodes meaning with tone, duration, and repetition. It is an earlier stage of Modern Sereal. During its use the language hasn't changed drastically; though proto-sereal was generally expressed lower in pitch and with fewer morphological specificity than in modern examples of the language.
Root Morphemes
The majority of lexical morphemes are retained into the modern language; however, largely attributable to the eventual merger of the 1 and 2 tonemes, many proto-sereal root morphemes have become homophones in the modern language. Note also that many words referencing lifeforms have had their meaning(s) indexed as their closest holocene equivalent.
